Can a traditional Church grow?

It seems to me there are a couple ways of "being Church." The people of a Church can provide services that others find helpful and so they participate - Sunday Schools or religious education for children and youth, Youth Groups, Dinners, movies, singles groups, moms' clubs of one sort or another, etc. Or the people of a Church can offer salvation through ritual or a particular belief structure. These are alternatives for people who are physically unable to provide the services that attract others or don't believe that their specific beliefs or rituals are necessary or unique for earthly or heavenly salvation. But these same people, unable to attractively serve or hold exclusive claims to salvation, long to be an appealing group to others - to "grow." One thing they might have to "offer." Themselves. Would it be enough for them to extend themselves in relationship? Or would it be too much? When all we have is ourselves to offer...
